Return to List Nuclear Safety Qualified Meters Available Once Again 04/15/2006     Nuclear power applications for analog and digital meters are expected to grow in the next 10 years as:             - older plants focus on relicensing requirements             - new plants are built to meet rising worldwide electricity demand   To satisfy both these situations, Weschler Instruments has partnered with Engine Systems Inc. (ESI) of Rocky Mount NC to offer qualified, safety related digital and analog meters.  ESI, a subsidiary of Kirby Corporation, focuses on the worldwide nuclear market.  Their Rocky Mount facility has 45000 sq ft of engineering, testing, warehouse and administrative space.     Weschler will provide commercial grade meters and design documentation to ESI.  They will perform testing and validation to meet specific customer and regulatory body safety requirements.  ESI will then sell these nuclear qualified meters to the customer.  ESI  has similar agreements with EMD, Woodward Governor Company, Cooper Energy Services, Ingersoll-Rand Engine Starting Systems, Dresser-Rand Company and Honeywell International, Inc.   Weschler had significant sales of nuclear qualified meters from 1985 to 2000.  However we discontinued our 10CFR50 Appendix B Quality Program, due to the difficulty of maintaining that program.
